On January 1 I started reading the Bible through in a year. I am using The Daily Bible in Chronological Order. Besides the Bible in chronological order, this book has daily devotional insights to help me know and understand what’s happening. At least, that’s what I’m hoping is going to happen over the year. So far, I’ve read Genesis 1:1-9:29. I just finished Noah and the Ark. That is one story that has always amazed me. Water so deep it covers the mountains, over a year in an ark with that many animals, the whole earth destroyed, but God’s faithfulness through it all to save one righteous family. Would I have obeyed God and built and ark or would I have argued, whined and disobeyed?
I’ve never made it all the way through the whole Bible in a year, although I’ve started several times. I’m looking forward to doing it this year.

I just finished Noah's Ark today, too! I like the part where God closes the door. I've always wondered if this is because He knew Noah might open the door when the poor fools who'd rejected his 120 years of preaching would start banging on the ark with a "Wait! I believe! Let me in!" After all, these were Noah's neighbors and possibly some of his relatives. I think I"ll run back to my post and add this. It just came to me to express it "aloud."

I just read your comment over on Suzy's meme. I noticed that you said you are using another Bible than she is, one that is in chronological order. But I found it interesting that when I came over here to visit you, that you read and wrote about the same thing Suzie did!!! (Noah and the flood).
It seems we all kind of get different things about this story. Suzy pondered on the fact that Noah was talking to good friends and relatives and that we all needed to be doing what Noah did.
You pondered on the fact that you wonder if you would have done what God told you to do if you were Noah.
I always think about when I read this story, is how there was NO rain, EVER, before this particular rainfall. Can you imagine, NO RAIN, ever, and your telling everyone that there is going to be a flood!!! Can you imagine everyone thinking your N-U-T-S!!!!!!! That's what I always think about. The faith of Noah to do this, the courage of Noah to preach it when it defied everything the people knew of at the time.
